THE SHORT VERSION

Witless processes screenshots on-device and via AI APIs to generate reply suggestions. We don't collect personal data. We don't have accounts. We don't track you. Your screenshots and generated replies stay on your device.

WHAT DATA WE PROCESS

When you submit a screenshot, the image is sent to our server which forwards it to third-party AI providers (currently via OpenRouter) for analysis and reply generation. The image and generated text are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers.

Your generated replies and a thumbnail of the original screenshot are saved locally on your device in the Archive. This data never leaves your device unless you choose to share it.

SUBSCRIPTIONS

Witless offers subscriptions managed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not collect or store any payment information. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, which assigns an anonymous identifier to your device — no personal information is linked to it.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

  • OpenRouter / AI providers — processes screenshots for reply generation. Subject to their respective privacy policies.
  • RevenueCat — manages subscription status via anonymous device identifiers.
  • Apple / Google — handles payment processing for subscriptions.

DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT

  • Names, email addresses, or any personal identifiers
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers (beyond RevenueCat's anonymous ID)
  • Usage analytics or tracking
  • Your screenshots (not stored server-side)

DATA RETENTION

We do not retain any user data on our servers. Screenshots are processed in real-time and discarded. Local archive data persists on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Witless is not intended for children under 17. We do not knowingly process data from children.

CHANGES

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
